WIN WIN WEEK WRAP UP
WIN WIN Week 2025 brought together an inspiring mix of leaders, researchers, businesses, students, and engaged citizens to tackle one of the most pressing questions of our time: What kind of leadership is needed to build a sustainable and just future?
Over five days filled with conversations, workshops, and shared experiences, perspectives from business, Indigenous communities, youth, and academia were woven together into a collective story of responsibility, courage, and collaboration.
At the heart of the week were laureates Domingo Peas and Juan Pierre, whose work and vision inspired every discussion, workshop, and experience. Their presence brought continuity and depth, guiding conversations around systemic change, responsibility, and hope. From opening sessions to the gala finale, they engaged with participants across sectors and generations, modeling leadership that blends courage, empathy, and action.

The week opened with thought-provoking discussions on leadership in times of crisis, featuring contributions from Wakanyi Hoffman, Madeleine Jonsson, and Patrik Andersson. Domingo Peas and Juan Pierre framed these conversations, emphasizing that leadership is not defined by authority or hierarchy but by care, listening, and the courage to act. Calls to integrate Indigenous knowledge, education, and global cooperation underscored the need for resilient societies capable of navigating turbulent times.

Tuesday showcased the power of unexpected partnerships. From storytelling on sustainability at With Mardi gras, to to engaging with companies like AP2 and SKF, participants explored how both technical and social “friction” can be reduced in the green transition. In the evening, Greencarrier hosted a roundtable discussion on leadership in restoring the marine environment aboard the historic ship Ostindiefararen, reflecting on water as a source of life and a shared responsibility — a reminder that the future is built not by sectors, but by relationships.
Wednesday began with a Leadership Breakfast at the West Sweden Chamber of Commerce, followed by a lunch lecture at Essity. In a masterclass with SEB, participants reflected on how ethical investment can become tools for systemic change. The message was clear: leading with love creates more love, and sustainable change begins with responsibility.

Students from the School of Business, Economics and Law joined the Solution Studio on Thursday, tackling real sustainability challenges inspired by the laureates’ work. In the afternoon, a masterclass with the City of Gothenburg and the Västra Götaland Region emphasized self-reflection as the foundation of sustainable leadership. The day concluded at City Hall, symbolizing the importance of bringing new perspectives into decision-making spaces.
On Friday, we embarked on a journey with environmental defenders at Universeum, beginning with the Wisdome experience, where we were guided from outer space down to our only shared home, Earth. The journey continued to the village of Sharamentsa in Ecuador, home of Domingo Peas. From there, we traveled across the world’s oceans, over Africa and east of Madagascar, zooming in on the home of Juan Pierre in Mauritius.
The immersive journey spanned scales from global to local, connecting the bridging of rainforest ecosystems with reindeer herding in Sápmi, alongside global collaboration and policy development focused on the inclusion and protection of Indigenous peoples and Environmental Human Rights Defenders. The journey concluded with a musical gift from Sami reindeer herder Jörgen Stenberg, who offered a majestic Jojk.

The event was preceded by a roundtable discussion organised in collaboration with:
SIANI – Swedish International Agricultural Network Initiative
The Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law
The week culminated in the grand WIN WIN gala at Börsen, celebrating the theme “Trailblazing Leadership” — honoring leadership that unites people, hope, and action. Juan Pierre was awarded the WIN WIN Youth Award, and Domingo Peas received the WIN WIN Award, recognizing their outstanding contributions to sustainable leadership and global impact.
The gala was hosted by Malin Aghed, who guided the evening with warmth and engagement. Under the direction of Johanna Ericsson and Pär Öjerot, the hall was filled with song, joy, and a sense of shared purpose — a powerful reminder that when we harmonise, we can't be divided.
During the evening, two sustainable design collaborations were presented: the upcycled dress worn by Malin, created by Matilda Book in collaboration with Stadsmissionen Göteborg, and the 2025 prize cubes designed by Emeli Höcks, highlighting creativity and sustainability at the heart of the celebration.
The WIN WIN Award is made possible through the support and engagement of our partners: Göteborgs Stad, Västra Götalandsregionen, Chalmers tekniska högskola, Göteborgs Universitet, Andra AP-fonden, SEB, Carl Bennet AB, Elanders, Essity, SKF, Coop Väst, Getinge, Mardi Gras, and Greencarrier. Their collaboration and commitment enable us to celebrate visionary leadership, foster global dialogue, and inspire meaningful action toward a sustainable future.
