The advent of digitalisation, the internet, and communication technology has transformed how individuals interact with each other. With access to people, knowledge, ideas, and cultures from across the globe available at one's fingertips, there has been a significant advancement in the ability to identify like-minded individuals, bring attention to concealed injustices, and demand one's rights.
However, in recent years, the drawbacks of this advancement have become increasingly apparent. Disinformation campaigns are being utilised to aggravate harmful polarisation among individuals and entire groups, prompting people to construe their political opponents, events, and opinions in a way that promotes intolerance and conflict. Given our constant connectivity, we are consistently susceptible to disinformation.
In order to safeguard our democracy and tolerance, it is imperative that we find ways to harness the positive aspects of new technologies while simultaneously mitigating our susceptibility to disinformation. This requires the development of sustainable strategies to fortify societal resilience while also preserving the liberties that the internet affords.
Welcome to a conference about the impact of disinformation on sustainable development, arranged by WIN WIN Award, Agenda 2030 i Väst, ReVäst and County Administrative Board Västra Götaland. The conference aims to provide you with a deeper understanding of disinformation's impact on society and the importance of combating disinformation to achieve Agenda 2030. The event is in Swedish.
The morning session will begin with a screening of the Sundance Award-winning film Fantastic Machine, followed by a panel discussion with experts and the announcement of the winners of WIN WIN Award & WIN WIN Youth Award 2023.
The afternoon session will offer the opportunity to delve deeper into disinformation and practical measures to combat it. Here, we have gathered a selection of individuals who, through their position or role, need to act on the risks of disinformation.
You can express your interest in participating in the in-depth afternoon session through the registration form. We will get back to you as soon as possible so that you can confirm your interest.
Since the County Administrative Board requires pre-registration in all its premises, it is essential to register in advance for both the morning and afternoon.
