Julieta Martínez
As a 22 years-old Chilean youth changemaker and founder of Tremendas, she has trained hundreds of young women in Latin America to lead change in gender equality, climate action, and local leadership.
BACKGROUND
From a young age, Julieta realised how rarely young women had a voice in decisions on climate and social development. Determined to change this, she founded Tremendas at 15, a global network that empowers girls and young women through education, mobilisation, and international advocacy. Growing up in Chile, she saw the need for youth, especially girls' voices to shape local and global solutions, igniting her commitment to train, mobilise, and amplify young women across Latin America and beyond.
WORK & IMPACT
Through Tremendas, Julieta has built a platform now active in 18 countries with nearly 2,000 members. The organisation works across seven action areas aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, including gender equality, education, and climate. Initiatives such as the Climate Academy, launched in 2021, have trained and mobilised over 600 young women to become agents of change in their communities. Julieta also amplifies youth perspectives on international stages, including as a member of UN Women’s Generation Equality Youth Task Force, showing how inclusive youth leadership strengthens gender equality and drives sustainable climate solutions at both local and global levels.

WHY JULIETA IS A FINALIST
Julieta Martínez is a finalist for the WIN WIN Youth Award for her positive and solution-oriented leadership. She counters polarisation by including more voices in climate action and demonstrates how young women can translate education, mobilisation, and global engagement into tangible solutions for gender equality and climate justice.
"In times of growing polarization and global crises, gender equality is not only about advancing rights, but also about protecting the progress we have already made. Too often, when societies face uncertainty, girls are the first to lose access to education, opportunity, and the freedom to imagine their future. Investing in girls is investing in the future of our planet, and this recognition is a powerful reminder that there are still people and institutions around the world committed to ensuring that no girl is left behind."
