1224 NOMINATIONS FOR THE 2026 AWARD
The WIN WIN Gothenburg Sustainability Award has received a record 1,224 nominations from 136 countries for the 2026 theme, gender-equal societies.
The strong response highlights continued global engagement for gender equality, despite increasing political resistance to diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives in several parts of the world.
The nominations represent a wide range of initiatives, from community-based projects to broader systemic efforts. They address areas such as women’s economic empowerment, gender-equal leadership, access to education and legal and policy reform, demonstrating that practical work towards gender equality is ongoing across regions and sectors.
“At a moment when gender equality is questioned or deprioritised in many parts of the world, this response is both powerful and hopeful,” says Sara Larsson, Executive Director of the WIN WIN Gothenburg Sustainability Award.
The award process will now continue with the review and selection of shortlisted initiatives. Finalists and winners will be announced during the spring of 2026.
