AN ECONOMIC SYSTEM FOR HUMAN WELLBEING WITHIN THE PLANETARY BOUNDRIES
Our current economic system has emerged from a worldview that treats nature as limitless, always ready to provide more.
Without the right rules and incentives, sustainable alternatives compete on uneven terms with actors who benefit from taking more than they give back: to nature, to human wellbeing, to future generations.
Part of what makes this so persistent is structural: short-term thinking is built into how capital is invested, how businesses are evaluated, and how political decisions are made. Success is measured by what is easiest to count rather than what truly matters, and long-term value is systematically underpriced.
Yet, something new is emerging
Around the world, leaders are showing that a shift in how we think about the economy is not only needed, but already underway.
We can see it in new business models that create value without depleting nature or people. In capital that flows toward healthy ecosystems and strong communities, rather than away from them. Policymakers shaping rules and incentives so that sustainable choices become the default rather than the exception. And new narratives of what a good life within the planetary boundaries can look like.
THE WAY FORWARD BEGINS WITH HOW WE VALUE PROGRESS AND SUCESS
With the theme Re:economy, the WIN WIN Award 2027 seeks people and organisations who are already reshaping how value is created and shared, whether through business, finance, policy or new ideas about what a good life can be.
Nominations are open, and anyone can nominate. Laureates are selected through an open nomination process and an independent jury. The WIN WIN Award is an international prize of SEK 1 million, and the WIN WIN Youth Award of SEK 100,000 recognises young changemakers aged 13–29.
Nominate by 10 January 2027 using the form below.
