Navigating together

The future of our ocean is shaped in one of the world's most fragmented ecosystem of actors. Shipping and the blue economy depend on a complex array of actors with different mandates, incentives and perspectives. Shipowners, ports, cargo owners, fuel producers, technology providers, regulators, financiers, researchers, NGO; all influence the outcome. Yet no single actor controls the system, and no one can succeed alone.

Today we know more than ever about the state of the planet and our oceans. We have the science. We have the technology. We have policies, targets and strategies.Yet change is not happening fast enough.

Perhaps the defining question of our time is no longer what we need to do, but how we organise ourselves to do it together.

The challenge is not only technical. It is social and institutional. It is about our ability to bridge competing interests, create trust across sectors, mobilise people around a shared purpose and build institutions capable of collaboration.

In a fragmented maritime landscape, progress depends on our willingness to move beyond silos and recognize our interdependence. The transition towards healthy oceans and sustainable shipping requires actors throughout the entire value chain to align around common ambitions and shared responsibility.

This roundtable conversation brings together the WIN WIN Laureates and actors across the maritime value chain on one shared challenge: how we build societies capable of acting together in times of complexity, fragmentation and change.
